PFOA (Perfluorooctanoic acid) is an excipient in the preparation of non-stick coatings such as Teflon. PFOA is considered harmful to humans and nature. Since 2015, almost all manufacturers in the EU and US have stopped using PFOA in the manufacturing of consumer products. Yet we are still at high risk of buying non-stick pans in which PFOA has been used during manufacturing, when imported from Asia (often China) for example.
